是什么让有些人能够走出失败、并最终获得成功，而有些人却在挫折面前认了输？心理学家称之为“自我效能”(self-efficacy)，这是一些人具备的一种坚定不移的信念、相信自己具备取得成功的要素。“自我效能”由斯坦福大学(Stanford University)心理学家阿尔伯特•班杜拉(Albert Bandura)在20世纪70年代首次提出，目前已经成为教育界的一个关键理念，正在被广泛应用于医疗保健、管理、运动以及诸如发展中国家的艾滋病(AIDS)等看起来极为棘手的社会问题等领域。它同时也是目前横扫心理健康领域的“积极心理学”(positive psychology)运动的主要特征。“积极心理学”的重点发展性格中的优势，而不是减弱不良特质。
